With the integrated number generator you can quickly and flexibly create systematic number sequences for your forms and assign them to specific fields. In the form itself, a server call is started via a button, the generator then automatically assigns the corresponding number and writes it into the form field. Each number is always unique, consistent and corresponds to the defined format.
This counter function of HybridForms can be configured in various ways and used for versatile applications, such as for file numbers, reference numbers, sequential numbers for operations, articles, offers, orders, invoices or vouchers.
Many business processes need consecutive numbering, so that the sequence of the processes is traceable at any time (even afterwards). HybridForms’ number generator automatically adds this ID according to the preconfigured scheme.
Integrated number generator in the HybridForms Admin App
The number generator (counter) in the Admin App offers authorized users (such as administrators) the option of flexibly defining unique reference numbers for various forms:
- Title: Enter the title of the counter here.
- Counter ID: This ID is used in the form definition as reference.
- Counter Data: Here you will find freely selectable numerical values for the start of the counter, increment (amount by which a quantity increases) and how many digits the number should consist of.
- Optional Segments: Counters can optionally be single or nested in up to two levels (selection from one of the options 1–6 in the form). Segments can be used to start different counter levels within a form (for example, for a separate counter and count per user, a file plan section, each month or year – or a respective combination).
- Composition: Here you define the layout for a unique counter value.

The number generator in practical use at Rhineland-Palatinate Police
The police of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate will use the integrated number generator in the project with the riot police. The police officer first selects an operation or an operation section and can then retrieve a sequential number for this operation via button. This number is automatically created according to the configuration in the HybridForms Admin App and immediately displayed in the form field.
The advantage: All file numbers are continuous, unique and consistent – and cannot be changed by the user in the form.
