Mobile Forms with HybridForms at the European Police Congress 2017

icomedias teamed with Microsoft Germany and HP at the European Police Congress in Berlin to demonstrate the advantages which new technologies offer to traditional police work. icomedias’ HybridForms mobile form system significantly accelerates the entire process of police-related data acquisition, making it end-to-end digital and offering instant analysis.

Mobil police work with digital forms

In many places, police still typically use notepad and pen to record information which documents police activity. The collected data is then later typed up at the police station and entered into a system for processing. Now, in a feasibility study with the Saarland Police – and with scientific support provided by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) – smartphones and tablet PCs are being used in place of paper and pencils. With the mobile HybridForms app, police officers fill out digital forms on site, take photos, draw sketches and record voice messages. All data captured with the app flows directly into the processing system with no media discontinuity. Usability analyses by DFKI show significant savings – nearly 50% – in total processing time per procedure.

HybridForms and Windows Continuum in police vehicles

As was the case at GPEC 2016 in Leipzig and at the National IT Summit in Saarbrücken, a Mercedes E-Class was once again equipped with two large screens in the dashboard, offering live display. Configured as an official vehicle, Windows 10 Mobile’s Continuum functionality can be used to connect a smartphone and a Bluetooth keyboard. The vehicle is consequently transformed into a de facto workplace, with digital forms displayed on the large desktop in the car. All data and processes remain exclusively on a smartphone and the backend systems that are connected. The car itself does not save any police-related data, ensuring optimum safety.
