Release Notes: HybridForms Version 9.4 (August 2023)
HybridForms 9.4 brings a number of enhancements and new features for the mobile client App (Android, iOS and Windows), the Progressive Web App (PWA) as well as the HybridForms ReachOut Server. Key topics of this version are the AnnotatePDF module for documents that can be edited directly in the HybridForms App, the new and smartly implemented scan engine for ID cards, as well as the further optimization of accessibility.
New in Version 9.4
AnnotatePDF: In-App-Edit & Update
PDFs in the document area are supported by the HybridForms App as standard. With version 9.4, AnnotatePDF is now available as an extra module. This enhances PDF handling quite significantly: direct editing in the HybridForms App with display, drawing, annotation and filling in of PDF forms – without the need for an additional PDF application with download/upload. Edited PDFs are automatically synchronized with the HybridForms Server, including support for offline functionality. The extra module AnnotatePDF (fee required) is available for Android, iOS, Windows and Web (one-time license fee for all users in one system).
Advantage: Users no longer have to download the file first to edit a PDF and then upload it again after editing. This saves time and avoids errors.
Use: For all companies that want to integrate editable PDF files into their form processes (for example, for customer appointments).
Further optimization of accessibility
Barrier-free information and communication services enable all people (regardless of individual or technical limitations) to make full use of digital content – without additional adaptations. This topic is very important to us, which is why we put great emphasis on the optimal accessibility and conformity of the HybridForms App to the applicable legal requirements from the very beginning.
In the course of an external review by accessibility experts and BIK BITV tests, some points and functions were further optimized, such as the form navigation menu, the tabs and controls, the automatic text display for fields, buttons and information on the status of elements, and the improvement of use with screen readers.
Use: For all users.
Additional media gallery functions
The expansion of the media gallery functions was incorporated into our product management at the concrete suggestion of a customer. With version 9.4, bulk actions for photos, sketches, audio files, maps and file uploads are possible: [Select all] [Deselect all] [Download] [Delete] [Include in PDF] [Exclude in PDF].
Optionally, variables for the compression of all image files in a form can now be defined in the form template.
Use: For all companies that create and use a lot of photos, sketches, voice memos and map extracts for the documentation of their assignments.
Input counter for multi-line text fields
Speaking of usability: With the new input counter function, the users can see at a glance how many characters are still available for a multi-line text field and can thus adjust their input accordingly. This function is implemented in the course of form development and the maximum possible number of characters for the textarea element is defined.
Use: For all developers of form templates.
